A simply outstanding
final day of competition here at St.
Pierre at The Fightmaster Cup 2010. With
Europe going into today with a 3 point
lead, the North American team looked
poised to bounce back but it was Europe
who seized two early wins to extend
their lead before being pegged back by
North America who won matches 3, 4
and 5. With the margin narrowed to just
two points, Europe picked up wins in
matches 6 and 9 moving them to 13.5
points meaning that a win from match 8
between 7 time world champion Nick
Champness and North America's Steve Day
would secure Europe the Fightmaster Cup.
In a very close fought match which
typified the sportsmanship and
camaraderie between the two teams,
Champness and Day shook hands on the
17th green having halved the hole which
gave Europe a 2 + 1 win and secured the
Fightmaster Cup for Europe.

(19.30hrs)
After a seesaw morning at the
Fightmaster Cup which saw Europe and
North America gain 2 points a piece, we
witnessed yet again some outstanding
foursome match play with Europe just
edging North America by 2.5 points to
1.5. Some dramatic turnarounds in
particular saw Match 1 swing to Europe's
favour with Match 3 giving the assembled
crowds surrounding the 18th green a
truly magnificent showpiece finish with
the match being halved.
What a fabulous morning of top class
golf which has been blessed by good
weather after a damp start. The morning
fourballs were close run in three
matches which gave Europe and North
America a share of the 4 points
available.
Team North America will be wanting a
repeat performance of yesterday morning
in order to get their cup defence back
on track while the Europeans will be
keen to continue on from their success
in the foursomes from yesterday
afternoon. Either way, both teams will
be hoping for the rain to stop and for
the forecast weather to roll in soon.
Its not looking too welcoming out at the
moment.

Did we see
the last of the good weather? We
sincerely hope not with the competition
only a few hours away. In preparation,
the European and North American team
members joined forces along side members
of St. Pierre in a fourball competition
which gave both teams their last
opportunity to assess the course before
Friday morning.
The opening ceremony and meal hosted in
the St. Pierre Suite was another great
success and an opportunity for all those
involved and connected with the
competitors to socialise before the
serious business gets underway in the
morning. Click

All the very best to everyone and may

In short,
both Team Europe and Team North America
have enjoyed a fabulous day today. The
weather has held firm and the respective
teams visit to The Celtic Manor has been
a great success. Both teams played The
Montgomerie Course this morning followed
by a tour of The Ryder Cup course
itself, which in a word looks
outstanding!

Ryder Cup course.

Tuesday 7th September 2010
(Afternoon)
Luckily
for most of the competitors, the weather
held off this morning and delighted us
with blue skies and next to no wind. The
course has coped incredibly well with
the rain from yesterday and is in good
shape. The afternoon groups have
ventured out again after a speedy lunch
only to be greeted by a short but rather
heavy shower. Blues skies are back again
and no doubt those intrepid 36 holers
will be back to St. Pierre's main bar by
late afternoon to continue the inter
team socialising that has got off to
such a warm start.

Tuesday 7th September 2010 (Morning)
After the
torrential rainfall of yesterday, we've
been greeted by a glorious sunrise
across the stunning grounds here at St.
Pierre. Will the weather hold though as
the BBC weather forecast harbours some
distinctly pessimistic news for the
week. Weather aside, the 2 teams are
settling in nicely and are looking
forward to finishing off the rounds that
they were unable to complete yesterday
due to the rain. The course itself has
handled the weather well and is ready to
receive the players as they set out for
practice rounds. Today' tee times are
between 08.36-09.32 and 02.28-03.24.
